Nature Study

A couple of days ago, as we neared the seventh phase of Winter, I noticed something pretty neat. It has been obvious for so many years that man learns from nature, but I saw an instance in which the reverse is true. Reciprocity is good for the soul. Working into the woodpile, ice, and snow, I notice, whatever little animals are living there now, have imported some insulation to make themselves warmer. I'm stunned, how did they know to do this?

Hmm, I could be the devil's advocate and argue that there is no split between man(or woman) and nature,we and the animals and all things are nature. If there was any learning going on,we probably learned from the animals! And hey, we insulated this year also,r49 in the attic, so weird to be warm in the upstairs of our old house! D

D. Perhaps only a split of increments that can't be discerned with the naked eye. But then, how did these lower animals know the required r factor for the woodpile?
