Saving Face

Up until about a year ago, I was a critic of cell phone texting. Its value wasn't apparent until I tried it, and now I can see all kinds of utility for this application. Instant communication without physically speaking on a phone. That is real progress!
It seemed fair to me that I should also provide myself the same opportunity with Faceplate. I should learn a bit more before casting aspersions about wildly. I had hoped it would be the same eye opening experience in the communication arena as a cell phone had been. Not the case, as it seemed to have a mind of its own. Running amuck appeared to be fair play.
The parting photo when I disconnected still makes me smile. It was a baby picture of one of my friends saying that they would miss me. Tugs at the heart strings, if you know what I mean.

Robyn: Great hearing from you, and knowing that you are out there! Actually, I was in the Face only to satisfy my curiosity. I really love blogging, and think that it is working out so well that I am going to return to the phone after while.

What is faceplate?

I left FB the other day, too, and got an email from a someone, wondering if I'd "de-friended" them. Sheesh, the mindless muck just keeps pulling you in. I love this song, by the way...classic vinyl sound.

Erin: It is my spoof name for face page. FP makes me think of a template. Fragments of sentences are responded to by a click on a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Romans at least cheered or hissed at the coliseum. Words really tell more

Colleen: It is in the nether world where people can unintentionally have their feelings hurt when they feel that they have de-faced. "First cut is the deepest."
"MIndless much" is a good name for it

TQ I really miss your wit and sense of humor. You always know how to make me laugh no matter how depressed I am. Oh and Marty says to say HI. I saw her at Sam's Club last week. Maybe I should just grow a beard or my hair long instead of worrying about work.

Barb: Grow you hair long and get a different purse. A purse big enough to carry several cats at once. On the work pressure, just think of how many programs the school has stopped and started since you started. You are a good teacher! As Brian use to say, " What are they going to do, shave my head and send me to Vietnam?

Wow, should I doubt my enthusiasm for FB? I love all the cool pages I "like" such as "shit my dad says",PBS,and "letters of note"...so entertaining! I like seeing pics of people I haven't seen in years and wishin them happy birthday. Am I so easily entertained? Apparently. As Jackson Brown said, "I'm going to be a happy idiot" Dee

Dee: Don't doubt your enthusiasm. Ride the crest or lose the wave. Last count seems that 500 million are in the same camp. I have to admit that I found a connection through faceplate that is called 24 bit that has lots of music connections which I found quite valuable. Hang in there.

Sorry to see you let your face plate go....no worries...I have found a new Tony Quinlan...he lives in Iowa and is married to Marilee...I don't care that he doesn't want to be my friend and I keep saying...yes..damn it I am your niece...he will come around...and I will keep asking and telling him every day...ha ha :) No worries Uncle Tony....I love your blog....except it seriously takes me 3 times to figure out what the heck the word is I have to type in...some days....it just wont take my response....Kathleen

Erin: I agree. I just found out where the word blog originated. It is a fusion of web log. What could be cooler than a Web Log?

Kathleen: i really enjoy "Thump and Bump" when you post them. I wouldn't really get that sensation as well on an About Face that is fragmented.

I am missing in the texting camp. I should try it because I usually think "what fresh hell is this"(Dorothy Parker) when the phone rings.D

Anon D. The cool thing about text is that the phone doesn't ring and then when you happen to pick your phone up, you can casually notice if there is something to tend to.

Carol: MP had a girlfriend named Josie. First thing I thought of too.
